EU foreign ministers will discuss military aid to Ukraine worth five billion euros.

EU foreign ministers at a meeting on December 11 will discuss the allocation of 5 billion euros for military aid to Ukraine in 2024 amid a lack of consensus on 20 billion for the next four years, a senior European representative told reporters.

“Yes, there is a corresponding proposal. Firstly, the eighth tranche of 500 million, which has not yet been approved. The High Representative (Josep Borrell) also proposed to allocate 5 billion (for 2024), this will be discussed next week,” he said , answering the question whether funding for military assistance to Ukraine will be provided for next year if it is not possible to agree on long-term financing for 20 billion euros.

He also added that the issue of allocating 20 billion for four years is still on the agenda, but different countries “advocate different approaches” to financing military assistance to Ukraine.
