Egypt migrant boat sinking: Death toll rises to 162

The boat with the Egyptian migrants sank 12km off the port city of Rosetta, say the coastguards. The tiny boat was carrying between 450 and 600 migrants, 162 now is dead.

Egypt migrant boat sinking, 162 people died, and the search continues. The coastguards say that the smugglers’ boat, which was transporting Egyptian, Syrian, Sudanese, Eritrean and Somali migrants to Europe.

Survivors said smugglers forced anyone who wanted a lifejacket to pay extra, as a result, 162 have drowned. Authorities said at least 163 people have been rescued but survivors told the BBC that hundreds more may have drowned.

The Egyptian police informed on four crew members have been arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and human trafficking.

The EU is trying to resolve the migrant crisis, but it is too hard. The flow of migrants is rising month by month. The people from the Middle East see that nobody is sending them back.
