The Russian Ministry of Health has registered the world’s first nasal vaccine against COVID-19. However, it is contraindicated for allergies and acute diseases.Contraindications for the use of the nasal vaccine against coronavirus, developed by specialists from the Gamaleya Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology, are severe allergic reactions, hypersensitivity to the components of the drug and acute diseases, while the vaccine is not contraindicated for pregnant women, follows from the instructions for the drug published in the register of medicines.

«Contraindications for the use of the nasal coronavirus vaccine developed by Gamaleya Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology are severe allergic reactions, hypersensitivity to the components of the drug and acute diseases, while the vaccine is not contraindicated for pregnant women, follows from the instructions for the drug published in the register of medicines. The vaccine should be used with caution in chronic diseases of the liver and kidneys, severe diseases of the hematopoietic system, epilepsy and other diseases of the central nervous system, in acute coronary syndrome and acute cerebrovascular accident, myocarditis, endocarditis and pericarditis», the document says.

At the same time, the vaccine is not contraindicated during pregnancy and during breastfeeding, however, the drug should be used from the 22nd week and only in cases where the expected benefit to the mother is higher than the potential risk to the fetus, is explained in the instructions.The nasal vaccine against coronavirus, developed by specialists from the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, is injected into one nasal passage while inhaling; smoking, food and liquid intake should be excluded within two hours after vaccination, follows from the instructions for the drug published in the register of medicines.
