China will always strive for peaceful development and will never take the path of colonial plunder, Chinese President Xi Jinping said.

“China’s determination to pursue the path of peaceful development will never change. We will never follow the beaten path of colonial plunder and the wrong path of a strong state that wants to dominate,” Xi Jinping said during a speech at an event marking the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence .

He noted that China is making efforts to resolve pressing issues, approaching this with Chinese characteristics.

“We are playing a constructive role in the issues of the Ukrainian crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the problems of the Korean Peninsula, Iran, Myanmar, Afghanistan,” the Chinese President said.

Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence – India-China Tibet Agreement signed in 1954. According to the formulation of the then Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Zhou Enlai, the principles included mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, mutual non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence.
