China tackles pandemic with mass construction once again

China relies on its experience in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. The sprawling quarantine center is more than 4,000 rooms is being thrown up in northern part, The China News Service reports.

Two Chinese hospitals, Huoshenshan and Leishenshan, were built last year within days to treat COVID-19 patients in the city of Wuhan, a city where the novel pathogen originated.

This year, China copied the response and started a mass construction again. According to the Health Commission, 145 new cases in the latest 24-hour period.

The newly built huge quarantine centre is designed to house people who have been in contact with corona patients. Each room, for one person only, is 18 square meters and comes with bedding, a desk, an air conditioner, a television and Wi-Fi.

It is in Zhengding county, a suburban area in north Shijiazhuang. The city, the capital of Hebei, is about 260 km southwest of Beijing.
