China said its diplomats do not interfere in US internal affairs.

Chinese diplomats in the United States do not interfere in the country’s internal affairs, Liu Pengyu, spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington said.

A representative of the Chinese Embassy emphasized that the media report “contains malicious speculation and is completely untrue.”

“China’s diplomats in the United States are committed to promoting mutual understanding and cooperation. They have never interfered in the internal affairs of other states. The performance of their duties should not be disrupted or interrupted. We resolutely oppose the fabrication of false information,” he added.

Earlier, CNN reported that the Chinese Consul General in New York was allegedly expelled from the United States amid charges of working for China against the former assistant to the governor of New York. The State Department clarified that the senior diplomat’s assignment had expired and he was not expelled, but left as part of a regular rotation.
