China called on the US to oppose Taiwan’s independence.

The United States must stop arming Taiwan and oppose its independence, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

“Taiwan independence is incompatible with peace in the Taiwan Strait, if the United States really hopes for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, it must strictly adhere to the “one China” principle, implement the three joint communiqués, stop arming Taiwan, must openly oppose Taiwan independence and support peaceful reunification of China,”  Wang Yi said, as quoted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

He added that the biggest danger to the situation in the Taiwan Strait at the moment is the activities of the current head of the island’s administration, Lai Qingde, and other supporters of Taiwan independence.
