Britain will station Typhoon fighters in Poland.

British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps announced on Sunday that the United Kingdom was deploying its Typhoon fighter jets to Poland, a move he attributed to the need to protect an ally from Russia.

“In response to a request from our Polish friends, our Air Force Typhoon is being deployed to Poland to support our NATO ally against the increasing threat of Russian interference,” Shapps told the Conservative Party Convention.

He also said the deployment of fighter jets to Poland ahead of the election was a strong signal that Britain supports freedom and democracy among its allies.

Parliamentary elections are scheduled in Poland for October 15.
