Brazil reacted to Israel’s declaration of Lula as persona non grata.

Brazil reacted to Israel’s declaration of Lula as persona non grata.

Israel’s decision to declare Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva persona non grata is absurd,  his adviser Celso Amorim said.

“This is absurd. This only increases Israel’s isolation. At the moment, Israel is persona non grata,” the adviser said.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz previously declared Brazilian President Lula da Silva persona non grata due to his comparison of the war in the Gaza Strip with the Holocaust, Israeli TV channel i24 reported. Earlier, Katz reprimanded Brazilian Ambassador Frederico Mayer in connection with Lula da Silva’s statements.

On Sunday, the Brazilian leader said what was happening in the Gaza Strip was genocide and compared it to Adolf Hitler’s atrocities against Jews.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called such statements crossing a red line.
