Ex-Prime Minister Andrej Babiš congratulated on Saturday his rival Army General Petr Pavel in the reserve on his victory in the presidential elections in the Czech Republic, his speech was shown on Czech TV.

“I congratulate Mr. Pavel on his victory in the election of the head of the Czech Republic, I admit my defeat. I would like to wish Mr. Pavel to be the president of all citizens of the Czech Republic and fight for the interests of the Czech Republic,” Babiš said.


On Saturday, voting ended in the second round of the presidential elections in the republic. After counting on 99.99% of the polling stations, Pavel has 58.28% of the votes, Babis has 41.72%.


The inauguration of the new President of the Czech Republic will take place at Prague Castle on March 9, 2023.
