An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 hit Romania.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 has struck eastern Romania, according to the Romanian National Institute for Research on the Development of Earth Physics.

“On July 30, 2023 at 07.20.06 in the seismic zone of Vrancea, Vrancea County, at a depth of 123.1 km, an earthquake of medium severity with a magnitude of 4.1 points occurred,” the Institute’s website reports.

There were no reports of casualties or damage.

Vrancea County is located at the bend of the Middle Carpathian Range and is the most seismic in Romania. In 1977, there was an earthquake of magnitude 8 at the epicenter and about 7.5 in Bucharest, killing about 1.5 thousand people.
