Actor Kelsey Grammer meets baby number seven

Actor Kelsey Grammer meets baby number seven

Auden James Ellis Grammer was born on Monday (14Nov16) and his name was inspired by the couple’s favourite artists.

“The name was chosen to honor the great poet W.H. Auden and James is after another great poet and singer James Taylor – two of our favorites,” a statement from the couple reads.

Ellis also has a special meaning behind it – the middle name was picked to honour former Frasier star Kelsey’s great grandfather.

“He was a colorful character to say the least and we wanted to give the name a second chance,” the statement continues.

Kelsey and Kayte are already parents to two children, Faith Evangeline Elisa and Kelsey Gabriel Elias. They wed in 2011, but their journey to parenthood hasn’t been easy.

In 2010, former air stewardess Kayte suffered a miscarriage, and the Grammers lost a son in utero in 2012, after announcing they were expecting twins.

Kelsey is also dad to Mason and Jude from his marriage to Camille Grammer, while he has two adult children, actresses Spencer and Greer, from his previous relationships with Doreen Alderman and Barrie Buckner, respectively.

Kelsey and Kayte have been open about their desire to further expand their family, and last year (15), Kelsey revealed his wife has taken to comparing him to historical Mongol warrior Genghis Khan, who was famous for having multiple kids with various spouses.

“I’m at six (kids),” he said on America’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “My wife Kayte actually calls me Genghis Khan so… she likes to tell me I have dozens of children!”

He added, “(I’m) probably not (at the end of my run).”
