Barack Obama can earn about $20 Million for his new memoirs

Barack Obama can earn about $20 Million for his new memoirs

Barack Obama has an opportunity to earn more than any other former president for his memoirs. According to Esther Newberg from the ICM Partners’ publishing unit, the book can bring him near $20 Million.

There is a high possibility that Obama’s new book will be published by the Random House. The company already presented his previous memoirs Dreams of My Father (1995) and a campaign book The Audacity of Hope (2008). Publishing houses are ready to pay $20 for the new book. The sum puts Obama on the top of the rating of three last former presidents. Bill Clinton achieved $15 million (previous record) while George W. Bush got only $7 million in 2010. Clinton earned $1 million more than his wife for her second and last memoir Hard Choices that followed her term as US secretary of state.

According to Washington lawyer Bob Barnett, who likely will rep Obama in his new memoir project, the book is a prioritized goal of the former president. And he hired Cody Keenan, former White House director of speechwriting, to help.

Obama can compete with his wife Michelle in this “book race”. Newberg believes she can surpass the $8 million Hillary Clinton got in 2000 for her memoir. Mrs. Obama gained a huge popularity as a first lady and was treated as a perspective candidate for next presidential elections.

Barack Obama left letter for Trump

Obama can shed light on the “mystery” about the letter he left for Donald Trump on his desk. It happened on Friday, January 20. The new American president didn’t uncover the content of the message, but admitted its high quality, complexity and thoughtfulness.

“I doubt too many of them were written in this manner. He really—in fact, I called him and thanked him for the thought that was put into that letter,” said Trump.

After a little pressure from the press president added the message contained interesting thoughts. Specifically, it was referred to healthcare plans.

Trump continued that the letter contained “Nothing that surprised me, but it was stated beautifully but that I’m representing a lot of people and I’m carrying on a very important tradition, and just do a great job. He wants me to do a great job.”

Leaving letters for the successor in the Oval Office is a kind of a traditional step for US presidents. Trump mentioned the message on Wednesday, January 25, during his first interview as a president.
