Japan’s Mount Aso erupts, no reports of injuries

Mount Aso, a volcano on Japan’s main southern island of Kyushu, erupted early on Saturday. Japan constantly suffers from eruptions, it has more than 100 active volcanoes. The government is trying to mitigate the effects of the eruptions, even created a special municipal service that cleans cars from volcanic ash. 

Japan’s Meteorological Agency said, that Mount Aso is spewing volcanic ash 11,000 meters (7 miles) into the sky. According to the Japanese media, there were no immediate reports of injuries despite the eruption began at 1:46 a.m. local time. Meteorologists note that one of the peaks registered of the 1,592-metre (5,222 feet) mountain in Kumamoto Prefecture.

A volcano Mount Aso was sleeping since 1980, it is the first his eruption for 36 years. The government gave to the volcano level 3 on a scale of 5, that meant people shouldn’t go to the mountain because of a possibility of falling rocks (Mount Aso is a popular hiking spot).

There are no reports of injuries, the recent eruption of Mount Ontake in central Japan in 2014 killed 63 people. That was the worst volcanic disaster of the century in Japan.
