The United States has imposed duties on Canada and Mexico

The United States is starting to impose duties on Canada and Mexico, which were announced earlier, the White House said in a statement.

Earlier it was reported that from Tuesday, the United States will impose 25 percent duties on imports of goods from Canada and Mexico, as well as additional 10 percent tariffs on products from China, explaining this step by combating illegal migration and the supply of fentanyl. The authorities say the measures are aimed at protecting the national economy and curbing threats from neighboring countries. US President Donald Trump confirmed that the duties would take effect without exceptions, adding that there were no “opportunities to avoid duties” for either Mexico or Canada.

“President Donald Trump is starting to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico… to combat the extreme threat to the national security of the United States, including our healthcare due to uncontrolled drug trafficking,” the White House said in a release on its website.

As noted, the promised duties on China have also entered into force.
