The Israeli army said it had eliminated the commander of Hezbollah headquarters in Lebanon, Suheil Hussein Husseini, who was responsible for the distribution of weapons between the movement’s units.

“Yesterday, the Israeli Air Force carried out a precision, intelligence-led strike in the Beirut area, killing Suheil Hussein Husseini, commander of the headquarters of the terrorist organization Hezbollah. The headquarters oversees logistics within Hezbollah and is responsible for budgeting and managing the various units within the organization. Husseini played a key role in the transfer of weapons between Iran and Hezbollah and was responsible for the distribution of advanced weapons among Hezbollah units, overseeing both the transportation and deployment of these weapons,” the army says on its website.
⠀
The IDF adds that Husseini was involved in the development of military plans and other special operations of the movement.

Since October 1, Israel has been conducting a ground operation against Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon and continues aerial bombing of the neighboring country, where more than two thousand people have already died, including leaders of the Shiite movement, and more than 90 thousand have become refugees. Despite losses, including in command personnel, Hezbollah is conducting ground battles and does not stop rocket attacks on Israeli territory.
⠀
The main goal of the military campaign in Israel is to create conditions for the return of 60 thousand residents of the north who were evacuated due to shelling launched by Hezbollah a year ago in support of the Palestinian Hamas movement.
