Flights at Iranian airports were canceled due to restrictions from Sunday evening to Monday morning, Jafar Yazerloo, an official representative of the country’s Civil Aviation Organization said.
⠀
The official’s statement came amid rising tensions in the Middle East region following Iran’s recent missile attack on Israel. Previously, Iran canceled flights on the night of October 2-3.
⠀
“Taking into account the restrictions that have arisen… flights at the country’s airports have been canceled from 21:00 on Sunday evening, October 6, until 6:00 tomorrow, October 7,” the official said.
⠀
On October 1, Iran subjected Israel to massive rocket fire for the second time in history, calling it an act of self-defense. The Israeli military says about 180 ballistic missiles were fired, most of which were intercepted. Videos on social networks show the aftermath of shells falling in different areas of Israel.
⠀
The shelling, according to Israeli authorities, caused no casualties among the country’s citizens. A number of media outlets reported the death of one person, presumably a Palestinian from the Gaza Strip, in the West Bank.
⠀
The Iranians claim that the missiles hit Israeli military targets; the Israelis call the damage “minimal.” They promise to strike back, and the United States to come to the aid of its main Middle Eastern ally.
