In France, left-wing deputies put forward a vote of no confidence in the new Prime Minister Barnier.

The left-wing bloc in the French parliament, the New Popular Front, has put forward a vote of no confidence in the new Prime Minister Michel Barnier.

“The existence of this government, in its composition and directions, is a denial of the results of the last legislative elections,” local media quote a document obtained by them.

The vote was put forward by 192 deputies belonging to the coalition of the left. It is reported that it will be considered in the National Assembly on Tuesday afternoon. It will be presented by Socialist leader Olivier Faure.

At the same time, the vote of no confidence has little chance of being accepted, since the faction of Marine Le Pen’s right-wing National Rally party does not intend to vote in its support. In order for the vote to be accepted and the prime minister and his cabinet to resign, the petition must receive a majority of votes in parliament.

In early parliamentary elections in July, the left bloc won a majority of votes, receiving 182 seats out of 577.

Macron’s presidential coalition “Together for the Republic” came second, receiving 168 seats in the National Assembly. The right-wing National Rally party, with its Republican allies, became the third force in parliament with 143 seats. Thus, no political force received a majority to form a new government.
