The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed the killing of Nidal Abdel-Aal, the leader of the Lebanese branch of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and another senior member of the movement, in an airstrike in Lebanon, the army press office said on Monday.

“At night, during a joint reconnaissance operation, the IDF and the Israeli Air Force struck and eliminated the terrorist Nidal Abdel-Aal, the head of the Lebanese branch of the terrorist organization PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine). Together with him, the terrorist Imad Odeh, who headed the military branch of the PFLP in Lebanon, was eliminated.” , – the message says.

The press service added that Abdel-Aal also headed a radical cell in the West Bank and was involved in creating infrastructure from which attacks on the State of Israel were carried out.

Earlier on Monday, the PFLP reported the death of three movement leaders as a result of an Israeli airstrike on Beirut.


At the same time, the Al Jazeera television channel, citing a statement from the movement, claims that among the three killed members of the PFLP, only two are its high-ranking representatives. The third victim, according to the TV channel, was an activist of the movement.


The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) was founded in 1967. One of the oldest Palestinian movements, it is considered the second most important (after Fatah) faction in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The ideology of the PFLP is based on Marxist views. Since its creation, the organization has been actively engaged in armed struggle against the State of Israel. The paramilitary wings of the PFLP also joined the fighting against the Israeli army after October 7, 2023. The organization operates in Syria, Lebanon, Israel, as well as in the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
