A ceremony to commemorate the fallen heroes of China’s national and revolutionary struggle took place on Monday in Tiananmen Square in Beijing, and was attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The broadcast was conducted by China Central Television.

Remembrance Day for Fallen Heroes is the youngest national memorial day in China, established on September 30, 2014. Every year, on the eve of the Founding Day of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the people’s heroes takes place in the main square of the country.

Those gathered on Monday morning in Tiananmen Square heard the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China, and also observed a minute of silence in memory of the participants of the Long March (1934-1936) and those who, after the First Opium War (1840-1842), gave their lives for the national independence, prosperity and well-being of the Chinese people. people. There are about 20 million such heroes in China.

Xi Jinping, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang, members of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China laid wreaths made in the form of baskets of living pink lilies at the monument to the people’s heroes, after which they walked around the monument, paying tribute to the memory of all the heroes of the country.

They were followed by members of the State Council and the Central Military Council, and party officials.

 


Veterans, high-ranking members of the Communist Party, military officials, representatives of China’s 56 nationalities and all walks of life attended the ceremony and laid yellow chrysanthemums, symbolizing respect and admiration, and white chrysanthemums, symbolizing grief, at the monument.
