In Germany, near the city of Völklingen in the Saarland, the warehouse of the largest steel manufacturer in Germany, ThyssenKrupp, burned for over 30 hours.

The fire broke out on Thursday at five in the morning local time and has not yet been extinguished; more than 200 rescue and fire service personnel are working at the burning warehouse. It is noted that the smoke reached the city of Saarbrücken, located 15 kilometers away.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire initially broke out in the area in front of the warehouse. Probably the pan caught fire there. By the time rescuers arrived, the fire had spread to the entire building.

ThyssenKrupp AG is one of the largest industrial concerns in Germany. It is also the world’s largest manufacturer of high-alloy steel and metalworking machines. The number of ThyssenKrupp employees as of June 30 was 97,860.
