Hamas made a statement about negotiations with Israel.

The leadership of the Hamas movement has not yet made a decision on participation in the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip, which were initiated by Egypt, Qatar and the United States, Walid Keylani, the head of the Hamas press service in Lebanon, told on Friday.

Earlier, Egypt, Qatar and the United States called on Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement to resume ceasefire discussions on August 14-15. The leaders of the three countries said they were ready to present a final proposal to reach a deal.

“At the moment, the official position of Hamas on participation in the upcoming negotiations has not yet been announced. And there has been no official comment on the joint statement of the three countries, which was released yesterday,” Kehlani said.

According to him, the official position on participation in the negotiations and the assessment of the statement of the three initiating countries will be made public today or tomorrow.

“The movement still adheres to its basic demands, which were voiced about a month ago to the mediators. Until now there has been no response from the Israeli side,” Kehlani said.

The speaker of the movement noted that Israel took a step that negatively affected the negotiations by killing the one with whom these negotiations were conducted – the head of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniyeh.
