NATO wants to strengthen cooperation with partners in Asia.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance countries at the summit in Washington intend to strengthen partnerships with countries in the Indo-Pacific region, including Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

“The third theme of the summit is our global partnership. The conflict in Ukraine has shown that our security is not regional, but global… We need to work closely with our partners in the Indo-Pacific region,” he said.

According to Stoltenberg, the decisions expected on this topic should confirm Ukraine’s support, as well as strengthen cooperation in defense industrial production.

Earlier, the NATO Secretary General said that he plans to agree at a summit in Washington in July on cooperation with Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand to jointly confront China. According to him, expanding such a partnership is necessary because the conflict over Ukraine has demonstrated the connection between events in the Asia-Pacific region and in Europe.
