Japan will hold an international meeting on mine clearance in Ukraine.

Japan will hold an international mine clearance meeting in Ukraine in 2025, the country’s Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa said at a press conference.

“As Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced at the G7 summit, Japan will hold an international mine clearance meeting in Ukraine next year,” the minister said.

 


Our country is actively working in the field of anti-personnel measures, namely the provision of demining equipment, technical cooperation, mine risk reduction training, educational assistance, and assistance to mine victims,” the minister added.

She emphasized that Japan has been cooperating with Cambodia on mine clearance issues for many years. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine were trained in Cambodia.

“In the field of anti-mine measures, Japan has accumulated experience in cooperation and enjoys trust, having secured cooperation with many partners, starting with Cambodia, we want to achieve even greater development. We are now developing a new package of measures and intend to take action soon,”  Kamikawa said.
