The United States is ready to deploy medium-range missiles in the Indo-Pacific region.

The commander of US ground forces in the Pacific region, Charles Flynn, announced the US intention to deploy intermediate-range missiles in the Indo-Pacific region in the near future.

Speaking about missiles, he said that “there are plans to introduce them in the region in the near future, in cooperation with allies and partners.” With regard to China’s missile upgrades, he said, “finding a countermeasure is a critical role for the U.S. Army.”

He did not name the missiles, but the newspaper speculates that they must be Tomahawks, US Typhon missile systems that use SM6 anti-aircraft missiles.

In all likelihood, this is due to the need to contain China.

Flynn added that he believes “the orbit in which China is moving” is dangerous.

Last year, Flynn already announced US plans to deploy medium-range missiles in the Asia-Pacific region to potentially deter China in relation to Taiwan.
