US President Joe Biden will visit Baltimore on Friday, April 5, where a ship previously crashed into a bridge, causing it to collapse and blocking the local port, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Biden previously noted that he intended to visit Baltimore, but did not indicate a specific date.

“President Biden will travel to Baltimore on Friday to visit the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge,” Jean-Pierre said during a briefing.

The Francis Scott Key Highway Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, collapsed on Tuesday after the out-of-control Singaporean container ship Dali crashed into it. At the same time, the authorities do not believe that the bridge was destroyed intentionally; everything points to a “random coincidence,” Biden noted. The American Ministry of Transport estimated the daily loss from the emergency at up to $200 million.
