The Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Bisher al-Khasawneh, in an interview with the Japanese newspaper Asahi, said that Israel’s actions in Gaza are not a military operation, but a clear invasion, and that the level of cruelty is unprecedented in modern history.
⠀
“This is not a military operation, but a clear invasion. This brutality is unprecedented in modern history. A complete ceasefire is necessary,” Bisher al-Khasawneh said.
⠀
He also said that “every pressure must be put on Israel to achieve a ceasefire” and that a clear “path to advancing peace” must be developed on this basis.
⠀
The Jordanian Prime Minister stressed that as hostilities intensify in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, fears are growing that Israel will try to carry out large-scale evictions of residents in Gaza or the West Bank in the Palestinian Authority, and this would be a “clear violation of the peace agreement with Jordan.»
⠀
“This would be a serious violation on the part of a country party to the treaty. Our country can use all available measures,” al-Khasawneh added.
⠀
Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it carried out strikes on targets in the Al-Shabura neighborhood in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
