Emir of Kuwait al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah has died.

Emir of Kuwait Nawaf al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah has died at the age of 86, Minister of Emiral Affairs Mohammed Abdullah al-Mubarak al-Sabah said on state television.

“We mourn Emir Nawaf al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah, who died on Saturday,” the minister said.

Nawaf al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah was born on June 25, 1937 in Kuwait. He is the sixth son of Sheikh Ahmed al-Sabah, the tenth Emir of Kuwait, Ahmed I, who reigned from 1921 to 1950. He has occupied the Kuwaiti throne since September 2020, following the death of his half-brother Sabah IV.
