Details of the explosion on the bridge on the US-Canada border have become known.

The car that exploded on a bridge on the US-Canada border cost about 300 thousand dollars, it was driven by a businessman from New York,  the British newspaper Daily Mail writes.

The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon on the border bridge over Niagara Falls, where, according to preliminary reports, two people were killed in a car explosion.

“It turned out that the car <…> was a supercar worth 300 thousand dollars, driven by a businessman from New York,” the publication says.

The 56-year-old businessman was reportedly in the car with his wife. Before the incident, they stopped by the Seneca Niagara casino, but only stayed there for a few minutes.

“We are cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation of the incident… We have reviewed and provided information regarding a vehicle that was stopped at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino just minutes before the incident occurred,” a casino spokesperson told the publication.

Sources told the newspaper that the businessman and his wife were not regular visitors to the casino and may have only been at the resort to change money.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) previously said it had found no connection between the incident on the bridge between the US and Canada and terrorism and did not find explosives at the scene. The FBI added that the intelligence agency has completed its investigation and has referred the incident to local police as a traffic incident. Earlier, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul said that US authorities saw no indication that Wednesday’s car explosion on a bridge on the border with Canada was a terrorist attack.
