A possible fan killer has been eliminated in Belgium.

Police in the Belgian commune of Schaerbeek neutralized a man who may have been involved in an armed attack on Monday in Brussels, RTBF TV channel reported.

As noted, he was wounded in the chest and taken to the hospital.

“According to our information, the police neutralized the person during the arrest. We can talk about the suspect in the terrorist attack on Monday evening, Abdelsalem L.”, the TV channel reports.

According to the report, the Minister of Internal Affairs confirms the fact of neutralization, but notes that the identity has not yet been officially established.

An unknown person in an orange signal vest drove up to a building in the center of Brussels at around 19.00 on Monday and, shouting “Allahu Akbar”, began shooting at people dressed in the uniform of the Swedish national football team. In a video circulated on social networks, the attacker chased people and shot at them, presumably with a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Two Swedish citizens were reported dead and another person was injured. The victims were Swedes who came to Brussels to cheer for the national football team in the Sweden-Belgium match. The attacker later recorded a video in which he stated that he belonged to the Islamic State group.
