Speed limits on roads in Amsterdam will be limited.

Amsterdam authorities are preparing to limit the speed limit in the city for cars to 30 kilometers per hour from December 8.

It is reported that the new speed limit rule in Amsterdam will come into force on December 8, but this Monday the city began installing almost 5 thousand new speed signs, adjusting 170 traffic lights and adjusting road markings.

New road signs will indicate that the changes will come into force on December 8th. The new speed limit is expected to affect more than 80% of roads in Amsterdam. The city municipality hopes in this way to make traffic in the capital safer and quieter, as well as reduce the number of road accidents by 20-30%.

It is noted that in certain places the speed will be limited to 30 km/h for public transport. At the same time, buses and trams that travel on a separate dedicated road will still be able to travel at a speed of 50 km/h.
