Poland will never agree with the whitewashing of the Nazis and expects an apology for inviting and honoring in the Canadian Parliament an elderly Ukrainian nationalist who served in the SS troops, Polish Ambassador to Canada Witold Dzielski said on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

“The leadership of Canada and Ukraine on September 22 in the House of Commons applauded a member of the SS Galicia division, the notorious Ukrainian military unit of the Second World War, which was responsible for the murder of thousands of Poles and Jews. Poland, Ukraine’s best ally, will never agree to whitewash such criminals “As the Ambassador of Poland to Canada, I expect an apology,” Dzielski said.

Among others, 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka was invited to a meeting of the Canadian Parliament in honor of the visit of Vladimir Zelensky on September 22, whom the Speaker of the House of Commons introduced to the applause of the audience as “a fighter for Ukrainian independence against the Russians during the Second World War.” In fact, Hunka turned out to be a former member of the “Galicia” volunteer division of the SS troops, which was staffed by Ukrainian nationalists and not only fought against the Red Army, but was also noted for atrocities against Jews, Poles, Belarusians and Slovaks.
