UAE MFA: country’s accession to BRICS reflects its efforts.

Joining the BRICS represents one of the priorities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in promoting a constructive dialogue with the participation of developing countries, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zeid Al Nahyan said.

In a statement posted on the agency’s website, Al Nahyan thanked the founding members of the economic bloc for inviting them to BRICS, indicating that his country regularly emphasizes the importance of multilateral maintenance of peace, security and development at the global level.

“This event is part of the UAE’s priorities in strengthening constructive dialogue through active platforms representing the economies of developing countries,” the Foreign Ministry also quoted the minister as saying.

On Thursday, UAE Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the approval of the UAE’s bid to join the BRICS is a success for the country’s balanced foreign policy. In turn, the President of the Arab state, Mohammed bin Zeid Al Nahyan, thanked the member countries of the bloc for the decision to approve the country’s application to join this BRICS.

The next BRICS summit was held in Johannesburg on August 22-24 under the chairmanship of South Africa.

During the summit, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced an official invitation to Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to join the bloc. He said that the full membership of the new countries that join the BRICS will begin on January 1, 2024.

At the moment, BRICS unites Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, but recently 23 states have expressed their desire to join the economic bloc, including six that have already received an invitation.
