The President of Slovakia fired the head of intelligence.

Slovak President Zuzana Caputova fired intelligence chief Michal Alach, suspected of a number of crimes.

According to police, the head of the Slovak Information Service (intelligence) Michal Alach is suspected of creating a criminal group, abuse of power and obstruction of justice. Earlier Wednesday, the Slovak Cabinet reviewed and approved a proposal to fire Alaç. The head of the intelligence service in Slovakia is appointed and dismissed by the president on the proposal of the government.

“The president, at the suggestion of the government, dismissed the head of the Slovak Information Service, Michal Alach,” the statement said.


It is reported that the agency will be headed by Tomasz Rulishek, who until now served as deputy head of intelligence.

According to the police, Alach was a member of a criminal group led by one of the Slovak businessmen, known for his connections in this special service. Its purpose, according to law enforcement officers, was to influence the course of criminal investigations.
