An earthquake has hit the southeast of Turkey.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was registered in the province of Kahramanmaras in southeastern Turkey, the Disaster Management Authority (AFAD) said.

According to the department in the social network X (formerly Twitter), tremors were registered at 10.05 local time in the Gyoksun area.


The source of the earthquake lay at a depth of 22.17 kilometers.


In the province of Kahramanmarash on February 6, earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 occurred with an interval of nine hours. The tremors, followed by hundreds of aftershocks, were felt in 11 provinces of the country and neighboring states, including Syria. More than 55,000 people have died in Turkey, according to the latest data.
