The UN Secretary General called neo-Nazism the main internal threat in many countries.

Movements of neo-Nazis and white supremacists are becoming the main internal threat to a number of states, UN Secretary General António Guterres said at a high-level conference on combating terrorism.

“Neo-Nazi and white supremacist movements are fast becoming a major internal security threat in a number of countries,” Guterres said.

The brutal legacy of ISIS in Iraq and Syria continues to cast a shadow over tens of thousands of lives,” he said.

As Guterres pointed out, terrorism and extremism continue to grow. “Al-Qaeda and ISIS affiliates in Africa are rapidly gaining ground in places like the Sahel and are exploring the possibility of spreading south towards the Gulf of Guinea,” he said.
