Belgium said they would not suspend military assistance to Ukraine.

Belgium said they would not suspend military assistance to Ukraine.

Belgium is not going to suspend military assistance to Kyiv pending a response to a request about the possible use of Brussels-supplied weapons in attacks by the Ukrainian DRG in the Belgorod region, Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder said.

“Are we going to suspend supplies pending their response? No, this is not on the agenda. We are in a conflict zone, a lot can happen. I expect that we will all find out at some point,” the minister said.

She recalled that each supply of weapons to Ukraine is accompanied by a document stating their goal – “protection of Ukrainian territory and its population“, but not an attack on another state.

According to her, Belgium provided Ukraine with military assistance worth 274.64 million euros. In addition, Belgian specialists trained 700 Ukrainian soldiers, including sappers and snipers.

Earlier it was reported that the Belgian Ministry of Defense sent a request to Kyiv with a request to clarify the circumstances of the use of Belgian-made weapons in militant attacks in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the Belgian Foreign Ministry instructed the Belgian ambassador in Kyiv to remind Kyiv of the principles on which weapons are being transferred to them, and also to express Brussels’ concerns to them.
