The Coordinating Council of the Belarusian opposition, the office of ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who left Belarus, and other structures close to her were recognized as extremist formations in Belarus, according to the website of the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The list of extremist formations, which is published on the website of the ministry, includes the “Team of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya” with its members “Office of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya”, “Cabinet of Representatives of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya”, “Svetlana Tikhanovskaya”. It is noted that we are talking about the formation “under the leadership of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus Tikhanovskaya S.G., born in 1982, a native of the city of Mikashevichi.”

The decision to recognize as an extremist formation and ban the activities of a group of citizens united by these structures and “united, including through social networks, instant messengers and other Internet resources,” was adopted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on January 26. It is explained that this group of citizens “carries out extremist activities.”

According to the decision, websites, telegram channels, social media accounts of these structures were banned.

In addition, by the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of January 26, the Coordinating Council, the creation of which Tikhanovskaya initiated in 2020, is also recognized as an extremist formation, its activities are prohibited.
