Johnson predicted a difficult winter for the West without Russian gas.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson admitted that this winter will be very difficult without Russian gas for countries dependent on this energy resource, but next winter could be even harder.

“For all those who depend on Russian gas supplies, this winter will be very difficult, however, thanks to the amazing organizational efforts to fill the storage facilities with gas, we will overcome it. A more serious problem is the next winter of 2023-24, when these reserves will decrease and will be harder to replenish. The new LNG terminals won’t be operational yet. Some European countries are rushing to build more offshore wind power capabilities, but they won’t be ready yet either. And definitely we won’t have more civilian nuclear reactors,” Johnson wrote in an article for the Wall Street Journal.

The former British prime minister noted that increasing support for Ukraine could be “painful” at the time of allocation of funds, but nevertheless called for continued assistance to Kyiv and even increased efforts in this matter.
