Foreign Minister of Montenegro Krivokapic proposed to introduce visas for Russian citizens

Foreign Minister of Montenegro Ranko Krivokapic proposed to suspend the visa facilitation agreement for Russians.

“Montenegro is a devoted partner of the European Union and the Minister of Foreign Affairs believes that our country should fully join the EU in this decision, as it has been so far,” the statement said.

The publication also notes that if the Montenegrin authorities support the proposal of the minister, then Russian citizens will be able to enter the country only on the basis of a visa.

Earlier, the European Commission recommended that EU countries carefully check all recipients and holders of Schengen visas from Russia for a “security threat” to the European Union, and also issue visas to Russians “without priority”.

The European Commission also recommended that the EU not issue long-term multiple-entry Schengen visas to Russians, as well as increase the time for issuing visas to Russian citizens to a maximum of 45 days for thorough checks.
On August 20, it became known that Portugal, Greece and Cyprus did not support the ban on the entry of Russians into the European Union.
