Vietnam’s prime minister Pham Minh Chinh had a phone conversation with Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurz. The two leaders have affirmed the great potential for the development of the Vietnam-Austria partnership.
Vietnam hopes to further deepen close and trustful ties with Austria in all fields, said PM Minh Chinh. In his turn, the Austrian Chancellor said that the Asian country is a trustworthy and important partner of Austria.
During the Thursday conversation, the Vietnamese and Austrian leaders agreed to resume the exchange of delegations and high-level meetings soon. The two nations are ready to reinforce cooperation mechanisms, taking into account the Vietnam-Austria Joint Committee on economic and investment cooperation.
In 2022, Austria and Vietnam will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.
Commenting on the future of cooperation, Chancellor Kurz said that his country was willing to support Vietnam in strengthening the partnership with the EU and work for the removal of the yellow card.
Over collaboration in the COVID-19 fight, the Vietnamese PM suggested that Austria transfer its surplus vaccines to Vietnam and cooperate in transferring production technologies for COVID-19 vaccine and treatment drugs. PM Chinh also expressed hope that Austria would urge the COVAX Facility to speed up the allocation of vaccines to Vietnam in the future.
PM Chinh invited Chancellor Kurz to visit Vietnam in 2022 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations. The Austrian Chancellor accepted the invitation with pleasure, Vietnam News reported.
