Thailand’s Immigration Bureau issued a release, which lays out the plan of gradual opening the land gates. Bureau will reopen 23 land border gates as from April 18 for Thai citizens who wish to return from neighbouring countries, VietnamPlus news agency reports.
Thailand is ready to welcome back its citizens who travelled the neighbouring nations during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the recent order of the National Immigration Beraus says, only Thai nationals would be allowed to enter the country after obtaining a health certificate and permission from the respective Thai embassies.
They are also obliged to take a two-week quarantine upon their return on Thai soil. Meanwhile, the foreigners will not be allowed to enter Thailand except for diplomatic staff or work permit holders.
Since March 20, Thailand closed its border gates as part of the state of emergency lockdown orders imposed to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. The closures have left many Thais stranded in Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.
Vietnam promotes voluntary blood donation
The COVID-19 outbreak requires more blood, so many hospitals across Vietnam urge to support the blood banks. On April 16, 430 doctors and medical workers in the northern city of Hai Phong took part in a blood donation programme at the Viet-Tiep Friendship Hospital, the leading hospital in the city.
This was an activity to help ease a blood shortage for health care amid complicated developments of the novel pathogen outbreak.
Chief of the hospital’s centre for haematology and blood transfusion Hoang Van Phong said that to ensure health safety for donors, organisers provided hand sanitiser and face masks for them and checked their body temperature.
On April 16, as many as 420 blood units were collected at the Viet-Tiep Friendship Hospital event.
