EU Parliament to vote on the Commission this week

The European Union Parliament is almost ready to vote. This week, the top officials will make a decision how their Commission looks like in the years to come, EU Observer reports.

EU MPs will vote on whether to support the new EU commission led by Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday at noon. For many of them, it is still hard to make a decision – by simple majority, in fact.

Germany’s von der Leyen will present the 27 commissioners and their programmes. As a result, one of them will be approved as a head who takes office on 1 December – even without the UK commissioner. While Brexit process moves so slowly and unpredictable, the EU can’t wait longer.

The plenary vote on Wednesday will be a logical end of the long process of careful examination by Parliament of the proposed team of commissioners.

On Wednesday, after EU President-elect Ursula von der Leyen’s presentation, a debate will take place/ Then, MEPs will decide by simple majority whether to elect the Commission or not. If approved, the new Commission will hold the position on 1 December.
