Kim Darroch, the UK ambassador to the United States, submitted a letter of resignation after the scandal caused by leaking his memos, NYT reported on Wednesday.
Kim Darrow’s candid observations about the Trump administration forced him to resign. The undiplomatic expressions of the veteran diplomat made both US and UK fell nervous.
“Since the leak of official documents from this embassy there has been a great deal of speculation surrounding my position and the duration of my remaining term as ambassador,” Darroch wrote in his resignation letter.
The diplomat said he intends to put an end to that speculation. Additionally, Sir Darroch noted that the scandalous situation is making it impossible for him to carry out his professional role.

In his memos, the UK ambassador described the Trump administration as “clumsy and inept,” and that made Trump furious.
The US President accused British Prime Minister of ignoring his advice and mismanaging Britain’s tortured efforts to leave the European Union, a departure now delayed at least until the end of October. As for Mr Darroch, the American leader frankly said he is “wacky,” a “very stupid guy,” and a “pompous fool.”
No need to surprise that the ties between London and Washington got worse in less than one week. However, Jeremy Hunt, one of the candidates for the post of the UK prime minister, described Trump’s comments as “unacceptable” and said that he would keep Mr Darroch in his job.
In response to Sir Darroch’s resignation letter, PM May paid tribute to him in Parliament and said that the whole cabinet had rightly given him its support.
“I want all our public servants to have the confidence to be able to do that, and I hope the house will reflect on the importance of defending our values and principles, particularly when they are under pressure,” Theresa May emphasized.
