Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully deploys US GPS satellite into orbit

SpaceX has successfully ended this year with the deploying a next-generation GPS navigation satellite into orbit, The Independent reports. Mike Pence said the US National Space Council is happy that we get that rocket achieves its mission.

The US Vice President Mike Pence who is also Chairman of the US National Space Council has congratulated SpaceX with its successful mission. Thus, Elon Musk’s company the first-ever US government-sanctioned national security space mission, that is one of the 2018 milestones not for SpaceX but for the country, too.

The satellite with the GPS 3 satellite aimed at beaming higher-power positioning, navigation and timing signals globally. Such a complicated mission faced weather and technical delay. Due to mission requirements, SpaceX did not attempt to land Falcon 9’s first stage after launch.

“On Sunday, SpaceX successfully launched the US Air Force’s first Global Positioning System III space vehicle (SV) from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida,” reads SpaceX statement.

The rocket has achieved its mission, the $529 million GPS 3 satellite was deployed to its intended orbit approximately one hour and 56 minutes after lift-off.

In terms of reality, the satellite will provide data for use by any smart devices, commercial aircraft and virtually all sectors of the transportation industry. The multiple data streams enable receivers in aircraft to compensate for atmospheric effects that might otherwise reduce accuracy, decreasing the expenses and delays.
