Sylvester Stallone is back to Rambo action drama, Deadline reported. The 71-year-old actor could be about to break out the bandana-and-vest combo for another spin.
Hollywood veteran Stallone is going to be back to the fifth Rambo episode, Avi Lerner’s Millennium Pictures believed to have set a tentative shoot date for September.
The forthcoming film will be the fifth in the Rambo-series and it’s likely that Stallone will be one of the screenplay writers. Mighty Sylvester was also rumoured to have been stepping in behind the camera to direct, but it now seems as if he won’t take on the role. Regarding the fifth episode, no need to say that the actor is returning as the main character, John Rambo.
Matt Cirulnick wrote the script for this one, which will find John Rambo living as per usual fairly off the grid. This time, he’s at a ranch in Arizona, battling PTSD and working casual jobs. But then his long-time friend and estate manager Maria asks for his help when her granddaughter goes missing while partying in Mexico. John Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S.-Mexican border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels.
So far, there is no concrete proof that Sly will be involved, it does seem very likely given his habit of reviving his most successful franchises. Producer Lerner has been linked with the project and the buzz is that Lerner and Stallone will work together as producer and writer. Meanwhile, no director for Rambo 5 has announced yet, according to Screen Daily. Millennium Studio is looking to have the film shooting in September across London, Bulgaria and the Canary Islands.
