Secret service agents are protecting the first family 24/7, and the director of agency admits that it running out of money protecting the first family. Donald Trump’s inner circle consists of 42 persons, while his predecessor Obama had only 31 to protect.
The director of Secret Service told USA Today the agency almost run out the money, sooner than it was expected according to the budget. In other words, the agency can no longer pay hundreds of agents it needs to carry out its protective mission, due in part to the size and activities of Trump’s extended family.
Donald Trump has a big family, and all its members need the protection from the Secret Service. Mr Alles stressed in his interview that his agency is overload with the tight Trump’s weekend travel schedule, the American leader is a very rich person. He owns many properties in different places of the USA, so he used to travel all the time.
The agents should protect Trumps in Florida, New Jersey and Virginia, and his adult children also need a protection while they’re on vacations or business trips to any corner of the planet.
To protect entire Trump family, the secret service should be enormously flexible, said the director.
“The president has a large family, and our responsibility is required in law. I can’t change that. I have no flexibility,’’
Alles told the newspaper.
How many people protect the US president Trump
Under Trump, 42 people require protection, including 18 members of his family, compared with 31 during the Obama administration, Alles said. If additional funding doesn’t come in time, the agency would not be able to pay agents for the work they have already done.
Alles said he had approached lawmakers with a proposal to raise the combined salary and overtime cap for agents from $160,000 a year to $187,000, taking into account their overload. The ‘new reality’ requires a new response and new solution from the White House, added Mr Alles.
