Cannes Film Festival has started today, there will be a lot of events, one of the most important is the dinner with Arnold Schwarzenegger who helps promote an underwater documentary Wonders of the Sea 3D. Yes, he’s back to Cannes.
Cannes remembers Arnold Schwarzenegger’s big splash very well – 40 years ago, he arrived on Cote d’Azur to promote his another documentary ‘Pumping Iron’ by George Butler. This year, the Iron Arny present an educational documentary by Jean-Michel Cousteau and Jean-Jacques Mantello – 3D Entertainment Films’ underwater documentary Wonders of the Sea 3D.
Mr Schwarzenegger is a producer and narrator of the French doc, which is being presented in the film market here in Cannes. To help toast his return to the French Riviera, CAA’s Michael KIves once again teams with British businessman Jamie Reuben for a Cannes event. Held at Villa Golden Gate, the dinner is expected to draw many festival VIPs.
Following dinner, the space opens up for a CAA bash that will see many of the agency’s clients who are in town swing through. According to a source, Naomi Campbell is among those expected along with her international crowd of A-list friends and filmmakers.
Arnold in Cannes: stars, films and rendezvous
Cannes likes Arnold, he often was a guest of the Film Festival, the Austrian presented here several well-financed occasions for splash – from 1993’s Last Action Hero to 2014’s The Expendables 3. Three years ago, Arnold and the cast rolled into town on two tanks.
In 1977, the 29-year-old Arnold suddenly became the subject of every conversation at the festival. The actor and bodybuilder capped a wave of Arnie-mania that included a lunch hosted by Jackie Kennedy-Onassis in Manhattan and a portrait by Jamie Wyeth.
