President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered the deployment of 5G networks in all regional centers (cities in 17 regions of the republic) by the end of 2025.
⠀
“The full-scale deployment of the 5G network will be a powerful incentive for the development of innovation. In Kazakhstan, this process is already underway. Previously, the goal was to cover all regional centers with new generation cellular communications by 2027. However, in the context of the rapid development of technology, we need to speed up. The government needs to complete this work ahead of schedule – until the end of 2025,” Tokayev said, speaking at the plenary session of the IT forum Digital Bridge-2023.
⠀
He noted that “the shift in deadlines should in no way affect the quality of the services provided.”
⠀
“The government should comprehensively study this issue. If necessary, make changes to the legislation,” the Kazakh president concluded, emphasizing that residents of the most remote areas must be provided with access to the Internet using low-orbit satellite systems.
