Beijing is ready to promote China-Africa cooperation and jointly protect the common interests of developing countries, Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Felix Tshisekedi in Beijing.

The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit, which will be attended by Chinese and African leaders, will be held in the Chinese capital from September 4-6. The theme of this year’s summit was “joining efforts to promote modernization and build a China-Africa community with a shared future.”

According to Xi Jinping, during the upcoming summit, China and African countries will define a new positioning for China-Africa relations, announce a series of important measures to jointly promote modernization, and jointly develop a new development plan for China-Africa relations.

“China is willing to seize the historic opportunity with the Democratic Republic of the Congo to strengthen strategic mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, jointly promote China-Africa cooperation, jointly safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and promote the pursuit of peace and development in the Global South amid great changes in world,” China Central Television quotes the Chinese leader as saying.

Xi Jinping also stressed that China supports the DRC in protecting national sovereignty and pursuing independent development.
